Hanging Coastal Seashell Sconces Without the Wires

Hanging Coastal Seashell Sconces Without the Wires

Looking for a renter-friendly way to add dreamy coastal lighting? Here’s how I hung seashell sconces without drilling or hardwiring — a simple styling trick anyone can do.

There’s something magical about the soft glow of seashell sconces, the kind of light that transforms a room into a calm, coastal retreat. The best part? You don’t need wiring or drills to enjoy them. When I discovered the Black Salt Co. Ariel Sconce, I fell in love instantly, but as a renter I needed a clever workaround. With a few removable wall hooks and remote-control battery-operated bulbs from Bunnings, I created the look of luxury sconces with absolutely no electrician required.

Pair with natural textures like rattan and linen for a layered coastal look. Or try placing sconces in a bathroom for spa-like ambience. Here’s how I did it.

What You’ll Need:

How to Install:

Step 1: Choose the Placement

Decide where you want your sconces to go. I placed mine on either side of my bed for a soft, symmetrical look. You could also position them above a console table, in a reading nook, or to frame an artwork.

Step 2: Attach the Removable Wall Hooks

Follow the instructions on the removable hooks and make sure they’re secured properly with the correct weight. I recommend using a level to ensure the sconces will hang evenly.

Step 3: Add the Battery-Operated Bulbs

These bulbs are a game-changer! Just pop them into the sconce and with a quick tap of the remote, they create a cozy glow with two brightness settings. No electricians required!

Step 4: Test & Style

Once everything is in place, step back and test the lighting. Adjust the position if needed, and style the surrounding space to enhance the ambiance.

The soft, diffused light from these sconces adds such a dreamy touch to my space. They work beautifully paired with natural textures and coastal decor. If you love the idea of wall sconces but don’t want the commitment of wiring, this is the perfect solution.

Sometimes it’s the simplest tricks that make a room feel magical.
